IFS & Somatic Therapy in Long Beach & Lakewood
Part of you wants to change. Another part is terrified to. IFS and somatic therapy help you understand those parts and calm a body that's been on high alert for too long.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS sees the mind as a family of parts: the inner critic, the people-pleaser, the part that shuts down. None of them are bad. Each one is trying to protect you, often using strategies that made sense a long time ago.
In IFS we get curious about those parts instead of fighting them. When they feel understood, they relax, and you get access to a calmer, clearer Self.
Somatic therapy
Stress and trauma don't just live in your thoughts. They show up as a tight chest, a clenched jaw, a body that can't settle. Somatic therapy pays attention to those signals.
We use breath, grounding, and body awareness to help your nervous system learn that it's safe now, so calm becomes something you can actually feel.

IFS has a growing body of research behind it and is widely used for trauma, anxiety, and depression.
Can somatic therapy be done online?
Yes. Much of somatic work is guided awareness and grounding, which works well by video.
Do you combine these with other approaches?
Often. IFS and somatic work fit together well, and I tailor the mix to what you need.
