Pickleball and Psychology

Pickleball has taken the world by storm. And Michelle Taylor, LPCC is one of them. She has taken her passion of psychology and her new passion of pickleball and combined them to form The Dink Shrink. She wants to help teach psychology, couples counseling, emotional regulation tools, and communication tools through pickleball.

Michelle is a 4.5+ rated pickleball player, hoping to go pro one day. She has won numerous tournaments and is sponsored by Gearbox Pickleball. When she found the sport, she had a background in volleyball, basketball, and ping pong.  Quickly, like most people who play pickleball, she found a healthy addiction for the sport.

However, she also noticed some of the same inner child work that happens in therapy shows up in partnerships on the court. She has seen many couples and friends struggle with communication on and off the court. She sees the same anxiety and depression symptoms arise from the ups and downs from competition.

Enter: The Dink Shrink. She created this concept to share the tools she teaches her clients in mental health therapy sessions. It translates well into communication and emotional regulation skills on and off the court.

Michelle uses therapy and life coaching with clients on and off the court. Clients come to Michelle to work on their pickleball skills, communication skills with their partners, and self-esteem.
